How to Replace an audi key G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU through an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 using an uncolored wire. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu has to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the position of the camshaft, so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of an issue with the chain or a jumped chain link in the upper chain of timing. The code will not appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It's a bit tricky to test since there are various connector pins, and each has its own functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms when the sensor is in full operation. Examine for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll i had massive power loss as if the engine was running out of gas or the injectors are not firing any more. I took out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were drenched in gasoline and the 4th was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each injector hole and when i turn the engine on without sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump right out. The 4th one remains closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I think the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it is running fine with the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem persists at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when it is unplugged, shows temperatures of -49c. Also i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar, whereas the actual pressure is 0.0 when i rev the engine.

I'm not sure what to do, i believe that i've ruled out everything else. I'm afraid i may have missed something. Let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 gets a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate a spare in a wrecking shop or parts store. It is simple to test them - simply put your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing upwards). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B, AAN, ABY and Replacement Audi Key Cost Uk (Http://Www.028Bbs.Com/Space-Uid-241574.Html) ADU) engines have an ECU that must know the position and speed of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of the fuel injector, for example. To do this, it makes use of a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these sensors go bad you will get codes on the diagnostic scanner that can cause the engine to shut down.

Some of the signs of a malfunctioning G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal, and/or a misfire when you are in gear. If you have any of these problems, it is likely that your sensor is deteriorating and requires audi replacement car keys. They're cheap and easy to find, especially in the case of a Bosch unit like ours. Alternately, the GM version of this component is also a good option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be a cause for a slew of issues with your vehicle. It is an important part of the transmission of your audi replacement key service near me because it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slowly the engine is turning. If this sensor fails, it can disrupt the performance of the transmission and the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. It transmits an electrical signal through gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the flow of fuel and boost and also timig. It also transmits it to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. It should show around 1000 ohms of resistance between those two pins. This is the same across the audi tt Key programming 80-100-200-RS2 series, starting from the 1985 MC all the way up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 DU So, you may find some good ones in wrecking yards.SEAT-Logo-2019.jpg
