If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jumped chain link in the upper timing chain. The code will not appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).
It's a bit tricky to test as there are different pins on the connector, and each has its own functions. The best method for doing this is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is fully operational, it should read approximately 1000 ohms. Check for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing issues with this component.
2. Injectors
Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll, i experienced an abrupt drop in power like the engine is running out of gas or the injectors are not firing anymore. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the 4th was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each injector hole, and when I start the engine without sparks, the 3 that have gazoline pop right out. The 4th one stays shut. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is somewhere else.
I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car is able to start when the G28 is not plugged in and runs fine when it is connected, but still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even if it is not plugged in, shows a temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.
I'm not sure what to do, but i think i've pretty much completely ruled out all other possibilities. But i'm worried that I may have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please share them! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump in the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor.
