In this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is located at the top of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a message to the ECU via the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

The grey wire is situated on the outside of the transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then uses this information to control the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends a signal to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu has to know when the crankshaft reached TDC and also the location of the camshaft to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails when it fails, Replacement Key Audi the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate a chain stretch or a jumped chain link in the upper chain. The code will not appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing is a bit challenging since there are two connector pins, and they have different functions but the best method to test it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and the ECU. When the sensor is fully functional, it should read around 1000 ohms. Look for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll i had a big cut in power like the engine is out of gas or injectors aren't firing any more. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each injector hole, and when I start the engine without sparks, the ones with gazoline jump out. The 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. I got zero Ohm. I'm assuming the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it works fine when the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. Also, i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit is showing 2 bar, whereas the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. But i am afraid I may have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 gets a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and measure the resistance between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black end of the connector). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines must know both the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of the fuel injector, etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to accomplish this. If either of these sensors go badly, you will see codes on the diagnostic scanner which can lead to engine shutdown.

A malfunctioning G28 sensor can cause an inaccurate speed counter for your gearbox and a gearbox which shifts more quickly than normal, or an unfire when in gear. If you are experiencing any of these problems, it is likely your sensor is failing and should be replaced. They're inexpensive and easy to locate particularly when they're an Bosch unit like ours. Alternately, the GM version of this part is also a good option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine sensor could cause a myriad of issues within your vehicle. It's an essential component of your audi tt replacement key's transmission, as it sends information to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is turning. If the sensor fails, it could disrupt the performance of the transmission as well as the rest of the car key replacement audi's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It transmits a signal via gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU then uses and processes this signal to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost and then transmitting it to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster. You can determine if the sensor is in failure by examining the continuity of the sensor to the tachometer. Additionally, you can verify continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. It should show approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between those two pins. This is a common feature across the audi keys replacement cost 80-100-200-RS2 range, beginning with the 1985 MC and up to the 1997 UrS AN and 1995 RS2 DU, so you might find good ones in wrecking yards.
